I bought this one (birds) and another one as well (aliens) for my niece. Hey Clay took me by surprise, at first I thought this would be some kind of play doh knock-off. As it turns out, Hey Clay is definitely better. It doesn't stain, doesn't stick, doesn't leave residue. Very easy to build things with it, without leaving a mess. And the app was also very well done, with easy controls for children, and very clear step-by-step instructions.

The code was hard to scan. I had to try many times and finally got it. Children tried to use the application, but the sound stopped working and then the whole application says "loading". I erased and downloaded again the application and had to do it twice. The second time it worked fine. Children like it but I find it not that easy to do. I like the feature of the cute animals, but I did not use the games. I do not like children playing on computers. I wish there was a choice with no computer but nice cards with step-to-step illustrations. However, this choice would be more expensive for the manufacturer, but much nicer in my opinion.

We scanned the included QR code which took us to an app to download. After that it appeared to work fine, so we left our 8-year-old to it. She later said she could only access one sample of each set. We hadn't scanned the QR code in the right place, so I had to dig through the trash for it. Then we accidentally clicked on the wrong birds set (there are birds and then farm birds?) and it unlocked the wrong one. A little disappointed she doesn't get to do the peacock, but otherwise it's fine and my kid is really enjoying the clay-mation and making her own birds (and sample creatures, which was really nice of them). I love that there was so much to do that she didn't finish in one sitting. I thought she had, because she had 5-6 creations after one day, but the box still had plenty of clay left over.

It’s pretty lame that you purchase the kit and they only include one instructional video. They advertise the app on the book. They should state the videos are an extra fee. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

We love the Hey Clay sets, they are great starting for age 3 and up, and for the older kids they can build on their own without assistance. The app really shines and also has games. The only drawback is once you download the app on one device you can't share it across devices, so choose the device that you want the kids to use when they are building. It's also a little expensive but it can be used later and paired with other sets to build new creations over time.

My granddaughter loves to use this brand of modeling clay, so I ordered one to put up for a few months. What a mistake!!! I gave it to her this weekend and every container was dried out. It is a waste of money because I can't return this now and it is pricey.

This was bought as a gift for my 6 yr old grandson. His 8 yr old brother loved it so much that we are giving it to him for Christmas. He will be thrilled. I remember clay from years ago, this is so much better.

Great activity but this only show you how to make one bird. The others you have to pay extra for. My Kids loved activity and it worked with a writing assignment I gave them. I just wish we didn’t have to pay for extra instruction.

We are enjoying using these. The how-to app is free if you buy the clay and use the code inside the box.However, you could probably use play doh or other air-dry clay and just unlock each how to video for $1

This gift for my three year old turned out way more fun for my ten year old. My older daughter was more able to make the figures, and she used them to set up some really creative and fun claymation animations. Since the clay dries out fairly quickly, I think the bigger kids can make figures more suitable for keeping.

It’s beautifully presented and very easy to make professional looking clay animals/monsters/etc using the app. My 10 year old was entranced & made all of them in one sitting (of a couple hours!) My 8 year old needed a little help from me but still enjoyed making a couple of them at a time. A really cute idea. Just don’t throw out the little slip of paper with the access code! I had to pay $$ to buy the app that went with one of the boxes when I accidentally threw it out. It should be printed on the inside cover of the box, no?!?

would recommend if your child likes to build and create. Not sticky or messy. More like a foamy texture. Great bright colors that make cool creations.

The product is awesome. Kids love it - it allows them to create something unique and interesting. However, I had to order this twice as they kept sending me bugs. The second time was the day before it was to be a gift. We had to travel quite a distance and were fortunate to find it in a toy store more than an hour away. This was a hassle.

Based on reviews I thought it would be better than play dough but it's not. It has smooth texture but it's not clay at all. It is strechy and my 3 yo didn't like to play with it.

Yes, HEY CLAY is absolutely safe for children because it is non-toxic and certified according to the Toy Safety Standards and Directives.
It usually takes 24 hours for clay to completely harden, although the timing depends on the clay thickness and environmental conditions.
You can soften it by kneading it. This should help restore its pliability.
The characters look like they were made by a very talented artist. Is it really possible to create something similar?
If you add water to the clay, the color pigments may dissolve and leave stains, so we don't recommend it. However, such stains can be easily removed with a wet cloth.
